This is all just random talk about Sati.
So yesterday I was told to write a CIM spech about Sati. Sati is the process in which after the husband dies, the woman is burnt. I had either the choice to go for it, or against it. I deiced to say that it shouldn't have been banned. That's what I believe, one of the reasons I believe so is because Sati is part of the hindu religion, and it was practiced for over 2000 years, before the british banned it.
The women who died willingly on their husbands prye where though of as goddesses, shrines and temples were built in her honor. If she did not die willingly, they would tie her down and burn her. Or if she did convince them to let her live, she would live a life of poverty and never be allowed to marry again. If your a woman of 18 through 25 and your husband dies your left alone to live the rest of your life poorly. Also if the wife commits Sati willingnly she is believed to go directly to heaven and reedem her rotting forfathers from hell.
Some people like to believe that Sati originated in India, it did not though. Some other forms of Sati were practied by the Egyptians, Greeks, Goths and others. In this form, when the kings died, they would be barried with their mistresses or wives, servents along with other things to help them with their life in the next world.
Sati was believed to have been brought by the Scythians, although they did not bring the creamating of the loved ones. It is believed that once they saw this they thought it was easier then burrying them alive.
Many people believe that Sati was limmited to just the cremation of the the wife, this is not true. In some cases the husband would burn himself after his wife died, in some others the mother would jump on her sons burning prye at his funeral, another one is when a male slave would burn himself on his masters prye.
I'm pretty sure there's more than just that...oh well, I'm done now.
